The PGA Tour announced the addition of the Music City Open in Nashville, a new signature event carrying a $15 million purse that will debut in 2027 as part of the tour's enhanced schedule designed to attract top players.
The tournament will be held at a newly renovated golf course in the Nashville suburbs, with construction beginning this fall to accommodate the event's requirements. The venue will feature permanent grandstands and a tournament-caliber layout.
"Nashville is a vibrant sports city with passionate fans, and we are excited to bring our tour's best players to Tennessee," said PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan. "This event rounds out our signature events portfolio with a market that has shown tremendous enthusiasm for professional golf."
The Music City Open will be one of 12 signature events on the PGA Tour schedule, each featuring limited fields and enhanced prize money designed to attract the world's best players. Participation requirements for signature events have been a point of contention between the tour and players.
The Nashville event will be hosted by a local ownership group that has committed to a 10-year contract with the PGA Tour. Local officials have praised the economic impact, estimated at $150 million annually for the Nashville region.
The announcement comes as the PGA Tour continues to negotiate with the Public Investment Fund regarding the framework established in the 2024 merger agreement. The PIF has committed to investing in new PGA Tour events.
